STT broker Gaby Fuentes: ‘Logistics is about new challenges, problem-solving, helping others, and building meaningful connections’

A Job Built on Trust

When Gaby Fuentes picked up the phone, she heard a familiar voice on the other end—a repeat customer who had trusted STT Logistics Group to haul a wash plant the previous month. This time around, he needed a 118,000 lb Kleemann crusher moved from a desert project site in New Mexico to Mission, Texas.

This wasn’t a small haul. The weight of the load alone called for a lowboy trailer and an insurance policy of at least $1 million. Gaby immediately tapped into her trusted carrier network—drivers who had delivered the goods for STT before and who understood the scale and stakes involved.

Remote Pickup? No Problem

“There’s no pinned address when you’re collecting from a desert site,” Gaby explained. “You’ve got to coordinate with people on the ground to guide the driver in.”

The pickup on Wednesday went smoothly, thanks to tight coordination between the driver and local project staff. But Texas had other plans for the drop-off.

When Water Gets in the Way

Just as Gaby was preparing for a Friday delivery, news came through—heavy rain had completely flooded the delivery site. If the lowboy trailer attempted the final stretch, it was likely to get stuck in the mud. Not good.

Gaby stayed in constant contact with the client, monitoring the site and waiting for the ground to dry. By Saturday, conditions had begun to improve. By Sunday morning, the crusher was back en route.

A Hill, a Decision, and a Smart Compromise

As the truck approached the final destination, another challenge surfaced—literally. The hill leading to the site was steep, and the lowboy trailer’s clearance was a little too low for a safe climb.

Gaby quickly called the client and laid out two options:

  • Option A: Call in a crane to lift the crusher up the hill (extra cost and time).
  • Option B: Unload at the entrance, and use the machine’s tracks to climb the hill under its own power.

The client appreciated the flexibility and opted for the faster solution. The machine was successfully offloaded at the base and tracked up the hill without issue.

Another Load, Another Win

“It’s the second load we’ve moved for this client,” Gaby said. “And now he’s already asking about more.”

At STT Logistics Group, that’s the kind of long-term relationship we aim for. Reliable execution, flexible planning, and crystal-clear communication—from start to finish.
