Another Big Move

Welcome back to our ongoing series highlighting some realities of freight transportation. This time happened to our agent Josh Sanchez and his dispatcher Joselino Leiva, hauling a Komatsu PC490LC-10 from Iowa to Maryland.

The Komatsu PC490LC-10 is a crawler excavator that weighs 47.91 tons and has a transport length of 11.91 meters. This excavator is equipped to efficiently carry out any task, such as digging, trenching, landscaping, or site preparation.

One of the biggest risks we ran into with this transportation was that the customer wanted to do the transportation on the last day of the month, a Friday. We thought of different plans to be ready for the scenarios that could arise, so we were covered in case something happened to our first option. Josh and Joselino had enough certainty from the drivers that they would be there as soon as we needed them. Around noon, they got a call from the driver, who was supposed to take the counterweights. He cancelled with us having an appointment for 2 PM with the customer since the CWT was supposed to be loaded with the main excavator, so we could not wait to load after.

Joselino and Josh rushed to get a second driver, and with less than 20 minutes on the clock, they were actually able to get one who was passing through the area. The driver had to fall behind on the second load he had to get, however, he made it on time at the customer’s location to get him loaded, making this another flawless transportation for us and a seamless experience for the customer.
